Why Destin will always be our happy place

There's something about the Gulf Coast that makes everyone slow down. Our trip to Destin, Florida was full of those moments.

What made it special

• Mornings on the sand before the crowds (and the heat) arrived.
• Shade + snacks: the pop-up tent and a cooler bag did the heavy lifting.
• Early dinners so bedtime stayed (mostly) on schedule.

Tips if you're going with a little one

1. Book a place with a kitchenette so you can prep bottles and snacks.
2. Pack a small wagon or beach-friendly stroller.
3. Bring more sunscreen than you think you need.

Watching our daughter see the ocean for the first time is a memory I'll keep forever.
